We can find Volovec in the nicest part which is called „Rohacska“ part of the West Tatra mountains. It is easy to pick out Volovec thanks to its characteristic tapering peak rising above Smutna dolina (from Slovak side) and Chocholowska dolina (from Polish side). Aside Smutna dolina you can see Rohacska mountain lakes. Well known and significant mountains are not far away from there, Ostry Rohac and Plactive. The first one has given the name to this part of Tatras.
